A Worthy Cause
Logo by Ted Dastick
If you're superstitious, Friday the 13th can be a day of bad luck. But YOU can provide some good luck and hope to a child who needs it.
Scares That Care! is a 501(c)(3) charity that works to serve sick children in need. In December 2011, they donated $10,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In previous years, they've donated funds to The Johns Hopkins Children’s Cancer Center and The Kennedy-Krieger Institute. The 2012 fund-raising campaign -- in conjunction with partner charities Scares for Pairs and I Helped Kane -- is seeking to raise $30,000 to help three families in need. Scares That Care! would like to help one family with a terminally ill child, one family with a woman battling breast cancer, and a family with a child who's suffered an extremely serious burn injury. While they can't help every person, this will be the start of something new.
Scares That Care! is hosting a Friday the 13th fund-raising drive. For a minimum donation of $5, donor names will be drawn at random to win:
✱ XBox 360
✱ Amazon Kindle
✱ Autographed Kane Hodder Picture as "Jason Vorhees"
✱ Handcrafted Hockey Mask - signed by Derek Mears
✱ Autographed Robert Englund photo as Freddy Kruger
✱ Autographed John Waters Book
✱ Three(3) single day passes to "Blood On The Beach" Convention
✱ One pair of VIP passes to the "Monster Mania" Convention
✱ Three pairs of passes to "Days of The Dead" Convention.
✱ Three pairs of passes to the "Dead Winter" Convention
✱ One pair of passes to the "Horror Realm" Spring Break Massacre Show
✱ One pair of passes to the Horror Realm Convention in September
✱ HorrorDecor.com Gift Pack
And many other prizes!
For each $5 donation you make, your name will be entered into the drawing, so a higher donation means more chances to win!
Donations are being accepted now and can be made two ways:
✱ Donate via PayPal to email@example.com
✱ Call toll free 1-855-666-2275 with your credit card and speak directly to charity founder Joe Ripple to make a donation. (Note: As this person works a full-time job as well as the charity, you may have to leave a message. All calls will be returned and donations accepted OR you can call after 6 p.m. Eastern time if you don't wish to leave a message.)
"Scares That Care!" is an all volunteer organization, which means that one hundred percent of your donation will go to those who need it and all donations are tax deductible!
