A Worthy Cause

Logo by Ted Dastick

If you're superstitious, Friday the 13th can be a day of bad luck. But YOU can provide some good luck and hope to a child who needs it.

Scares That Care! is a 501(c)(3) charity that works to serve sick children in need. In December 2011, they donated $10,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In previous years, they've donated funds to The Johns Hopkins Children’s Cancer Center and The Kennedy-Krieger Institute. The 2012 fund-raising campaign -- in conjunction with partner charities Scares for Pairs and I Helped Kane -- is seeking to raise $30,000 to help three families in need. Scares That Care! would like to help one family with a terminally ill child, one family with a woman battling breast cancer, and a family with a child who's suffered an extremely serious burn injury. While they can't help every person, this will be the start of something new.

Scares That Care! is hosting a Friday the 13th fund-raising drive. For a minimum donation of $5, donor names will be drawn at random to win:

✱ XBox 360
